This summer, I wrote a bunch for short stories for my kids to subtly address some of the issues my boys have hit on this complicated summer. They include acceptance and racism to scab picking and potty talk, all within the framework of a paranormal public school called Middletown Middle. Since they are obsessed with supernatural things, the boy’s fingerprints are all over each.
All the stories are set in the same school but different times over more than a hundred and fifty years. I love lived-in worlds that exist tangentially from our own. Similar challenges are handled differently. Short stories work due to the time and attention I was able to devote to it. When I can, I’ll post it for free otherwise, it’s priced at $3.99.
