Tesla Y Review: 10 Things I Love and 10 Things I Wish Were Different

The Tesla

WHAT I LOVE : THE INSTANT ACCELERATION

I’m not talking about taking off at a red light in a race acceleration.  Although that’s cool today, it’ll be pretty mundane in a few years.  My favorite thing is how smoothly the Y can find its spot on the highway.   Merging on a highway that’s moving at 75 MPH without a single white knuckle is worth it.

WHAT I WISH WAS DIFFERENT: ELON MUSK

I’ll get this one out quick.  The Tesla Y is a wonderful car.  Elon did not design the car or the tech; he bought the company -a fact most people don’t know and is intertwined with the company’s brand.   He word vomits often on Twitter and if it’s especially controversial, I get some pangs of regret.  Co-workers will ask what I think about what he said and I shrug.  Not a fan of the person.

WHAT I LOVE: THE STORAGE

I read that most people who have frunks in their cars, never use them.  So much so Fisker isn’t putting frunks in their vehicles ongoing.  I love my frunk.  I love the big storage space.  I can pack more in my Tesla Y than my Subaru Outback, and it isn’t even close.  Having a spot extra to throw in a large travel bag and not impact the interior is pretty awesome.

WHAT I WISH WAS DIFFERENT:  THE CHARGING STATION
The charging stations in Vermont and upstate New York are typically half vacant all the time.  But head south to New York and New Jersey you’ll find yourself in a weird line, not knowing exactly where to wait to be next.  So, then I head out to find one that is not near the highway and take.  I know this is the epitome of first world problem as the chargers themselves are pretty incredible, I’m just saucy because starting later this year we’ll need to share them with non-teslas

WHAT I LOVE: DOG MODE

I take my dogs everywhere, so when it’s -9 here in Vermont or 95 I can still take them and if I have to run into the store to grab lunch, having a way to keep the dogs perfectly comfortable is an epic save. Even being able to keep the temperature cool on a hot day when you go. The car is seriously dangerous without it.  The full windowed roof traps eat.

WHAT I LOVE:  ELECTRICITY, RIGHT?!

I have solar panels so technically my Tesla is powered by the sun.  Not going to gas stations has made these crazy gas prices seem like a non-story.   Capitalism won’t keep the prices cheap forever.  Charging at home is once

WHAT I LOVE:  THE SIMPLICITY

WHAT I WISH WAS DIFFERENT:   CHEAP MATERIALS

WHAT I LOVE:  Cold weather performance

WHAT I WISH WAS DIFFERENT: Repairs
