Why Create a GPT Within ChatGPT and How to Start One
AI feels complicated. So, imagine thinking you can tailor your own AI model with ChatGPT—and it’s easier than assembling an Ikea bookcase. Do it for yourself or earn extra points at the office.
Why Create a Custom GPT Within ChatGPT?
- Specialization: When you go to the main page of ChatGPT or any of the large models, you have the whole of the internet at your fingertips. Sometimes, you want it to be focused. Custom GPTs can be tuned to understand and generate responses in niche topics. I wanted help creating a personal mission statement and was frustrated the info it gave me was not relevant; I had to coach it and still didn’t get it to ask the right questions.
- User Experience: You can make a GPT that has a specific tone or style. This is big when you are working on a GPT for a business or if you have a personal brand yourself.
- Efficiency: By spending time on creating a set of rules, I’ve been able to get the GPT to ask the right questions at the first prompt. It gets you where you want to go faster and more accurately.
How to Start Creating Your GPT Within ChatGPT:
- Define the Purpose: Clearly identify what you want your custom GPT to achieve. I wanted mine to help me create a personal brand and researched the questions to ask to get there. I prefer the question and answer style of an interview and created rules around that.
- Gather Data: Get the facts. I used some old school philosophy from Carl Jung to Ted Talks. If you make a personal GPT, you can make it private and use relevant data.
- Train Your Model: I practiced with the data I gave it and the OpenAI API to change parameters. No coding is necessary for any of these steps.
- Test: I updated dozens of times because I experienced some issues with it when I asked some off-the-wall questions. I added many more rules to keep the guidelines simple for the user.
- Deployment: Once you’re happy with the model’s performance, launch it within the ChatGPT framework and begin interacting with it.
- Update: Once live, you still have the opportunity to update and keep it relevant.
Purpose of Personal Brand Architect
Turning to why I started “Personal Brand Architect”. I needed guidelines for this blog, my social media postings, and felt a bit lost. The platform was conceived to assist folks in developing a unique personal brand reflective of individual aspirations and values. Essentially, it serves as an internal compass to guide decision-making to whatever extent they are comfortable with.
