Claude 2 vs ChatGPT – How Anthropic’s New AI Writing Assistant Stacks Up

Hey folks, say hello to Claude 2, the newest contender in the arena of Artificial Intelligence! Brought to you by Anthropic AI, this shiny toy promises to give the heavyweights like ChatGPT and Microsoft Bing AI a run for their money. But does it pack the punch we are looking for?

Every day, a new gadget promises to revamp our daily lives, but few really hit.  ChaptGPT and Google’s Bard are the best right now, but Claude 2 from Anthropic AI seems a promising rookie.  Its creators once worked at OpenAI creators of ChatGPT so there’s that.

Wondering what Claude 2 is? It’s a beefed-up language model that forms the foundation for the Claude AI chatbot. Unlike well-publicized players like Bard, ChatGPT, and Bing AI, Claude AI is the quiet achiever of the pack.

Claude AI’s performance is nothing short of spectacular, often outperforming the big three on several grounds.  It’s easy to use and is armed with a gargantuan dataset sourced from the web. Claude 2 is designed to deliver engaging, creative dialogues while prioritizing safety – a feature often given a miss in AI language models. Safety is going to be an ongoing theme with AI so leaning in now is a good play.

But what can you achieve with Claude AI? A whole lot, it turns out. Like its contemporaries, OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s Bard, Claude AI has an array of impressive skills. From composing poems, speeches, and resumes to summarizing full-fledged novels, which the others cannot do.  I added a kid’s novel I wrote and it summarized it in seconds.  I asked for suggestions; some were actually worthwhile ones but many were way off, so take it with a grain of salt.

Need code written? Claude AI can handle that too.

What sets Claude AI apart is its prowess in creative writing, outperforming many competitors. Moreover, its proficiency in coding tasks makes it a reliable tool for programmers. Unlike some AIs, you can feed Claude any text file, be it a PDF or a Word document, and it will churn out interesting insights.  I work on government contracts with an inordinate number of 20-page PDFs and Claude can summarize into bullet points that let me know whether I should be bidding or not on a job.  That’s a game-changer in my life.

And the fun doesn’t stop there! You can put Claude AI to work on data analysis, document translation, text summarization, or even indulge in some game-playing. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

When compared to other well-known AI chatbots, Claude 2 stands out in its emphasis on safety. Although it’s early days, Claude AI seems less prone to error and more resistant to exploitation, unlike ChatGPT where the quality of answers seems to be degrading. It also offers more guidance on ethics and morals than its peers. This emphasis on safety makes it a potentially better option for minors.

Early tests show Claude AI also takes the lead in creative writing, outperforming Bard and running neck-and-neck with GPT-4 powered ChatGPT. Depending on the task at hand, Claude AI often surpasses Bing AI.

In terms of coding abilities, Claude AI is on par with ChatGPT, and generally more capable than Bing AI and Bard AI. All in all, Claude AI is a compelling alternative to the current big three of AI chatbots.

ChatGPT has long enjoyed its status as the reigning champ in the AI chatbot field since its launch in November 2022. Yet, none of the newer models have truly challenged its throne. However, Claude AI, with its unique features, shows promise in giving ChatGPT a tough fight.  Finding what makes each unique will help you make better content across the board.
